The Rockets look scary good on paper. TMac seems to have his past back issues solved. The two big things will be Yao and Artest. As much as people think Artest is the biggest concern, I would be more worried about Yao. He played all summer and its hard to know how ready his foot really was. If he played on it with it not healed all the way he could wind up dealing with it throughout the season. If I am the Rockets FO I approach this with extreme caution. Artest and TMac can probably carry the team early on if Yao needs a few extra weeks to make sure that foot is 100%. If the Rockets start the playoffs healthy...all those "one and done" jokes will be a distant memory.

As far as Yao's health Artest is the key. Yao doesnt have to play over 40 minutes EVERY single night anymore. Then the teams where he doesnt match up well, b/c he's too big and slow he will hardly have to play at all. Artest is a huge piece and takes a big load off of T-Mac and Yao. Especially double-teams on Yao. I dare any team to double team him this year. Artest and T-Mac will light their asses up This is a very deep very experienced team. The Rockets are going to be a force to be dealt with I guarantee you.

Thursday September 25, 2008 3:15 PM Rockets Decide to Match Offer for Carl Landry
Second-year forward should be ready to go for start of training camp
Carl Landry will be sporting Rockets' red once again
Jason Friedman Rockets.com Staff Writer
HOUSTON - After months of speculation, the Carl Landry saga has finally reached its conclusion. The verdict: The explosive second-year forward will indeed be donning Rockets' red once again.
Less than twenty four hours after the Charlotte Bobcats signed Landry to a three year offer sheet - with the third year being a team option - Rockets GM Daryl Morey announced that Houston will match the deal.
"We’re really excited to have him back," Morey says. "We wanted to sign him long-term out of the draft last year; because we didn’t have mid-level we weren’t able to get that done. So now we’re excited to get that done and we’re going to have a great set of players in for training camp.
"We had a lot of time obviously to think about what range of money we would match and this fell into that. Also, training camp coming Monday, we want to get him in here and get the physical finished and get him here starting Monday for camp. There was a chance that this could drag out and we didn’t want that to happen. We felt like we had to get Carl in at a number that didn’t hurt our ability to maneuver long-term and we feel like this does that, so we were willing to wait and I’m pleased. I’ve said all along that it’d be nice if someone would just sign him so we could match and get this over with."
Landry burst onto the scene during the second half of the 2007-2008 season, using his tremendous athleticism to become a true force at the power forward position. The product of Purdue averaged 8.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while posting eye-popping efficiency numbers which placed him at the top of last year's rookie class. And while some have raised concerns over the state of Landry's sometimes-troublesome right knee, the Rockets will have an opportunity to ensure its health when he arrives for his physical.
"Obviously, him having played for us, we’ve got a good sense of the state of the knee," says Morey. "But we feel like we’re in a season where we’ve gotta take risks and we’ve got to bring in all the best players possible. We feel like this has a chance to be a special season and we’re excited Carl will be a part of it."
One other important note to realize about this deal: Should the Rockets decline the option for Landry's third year, he will still be a restricted free agent

Hmmmm... 18 points for Artest. Well he was damn good for one game anyways. That 96 on his jersey looks funny as hell.

I've been wanting to talk basketball with you guys. I'm sure i'm gonna hear it from all of you. I've liked the Rockets ever since they eliminated Magic and the Lakers in the conference finals. Being in Memphis, I follow the Grizzlies...yeah, we stink, I know this. But being optimistic, we've won more games at this point (2), than we did in our first 20 last season. We got some good young talent here though(thanks for that draft day trade #8 for Battier&Swift. That 8 pick has turned to be a leader on our team (Rudy Gay). Marc Gasol is gonna show everyone that the Pau trade actually benefitted us moreso than it hurt. And of course OJ mayo. We also was lucky enough to draft Darrell Arthur. I'm sure many of you know him
On another note, the Rockets easily got "the king of Memphis" in Joey Dorsey. Although he won't score you 20 points, he can get you 20 rebounds. He plays with so much heart. I was at the preseason game here in memphis between the Rockets and you would've thought Joey was starting for the Grizz. FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS...JOOOEEEYYY DORRSEEYYY... I look forward to talking about the division our teams are in...

Wow what a way to put an end to my shitty day. I watched the Rockets get man handled by the Lakers last night. T-Mac needs to sit for a while. Hell Chuck Hayes can score more than 5 points in two games. The Rockets chunked the ball up like 83 times for 39% of them made. Pathetic.

What is up with Tmac and Yao? And why isn't Brooks starting yet? They got handled last night.

I gotta feeling this might be a long season. T-Mac is well fragile as hell as we all know. He came in with a hurt knee and shoulder he is still getting over. Yao looks like he is freakin wore out after having surgery and playing the whole off season in the Olympics. As far as Brooks I bet he ends up starting before the season is over. I'm hoping this team starts gelling and doing what is expected of them, but for now we have lost to two of the teams we are supposed to be competing with. One at home(Celtics) and the other we got handled(Lakers).

Man the Rockets looked like they knew what the hell they were doing last night. Went into Phoenix and busted that ass! Even showed some emotion and damn near got into a fist fight. I cant stand that dude from Phoenix(cant remember his name) that started that shit. He looks like he should be on an episode of COPS in a trailer somewhere with a wife beater on and a cigarette behind his ear.

Douche bag Nash came flying in and caught Rafer with an Elbow, and TMAC straight up threw his ass to the ground. Punked his ass out. That was beautiful.
