After tonight we will be chasing the lead pack in the wilcard hunt. Right now without Baltimore winning, which they will, the Steelers and the Chargers have the wildcard spots. That leaves us behind the freakin Jags and possibly the Ravens for the crumbs. It looks like we will have to go 11-5 or possibly 12-4 to have a shot. Not good.
I'm hoping Denver has a complete collapse so we can pass them up. Then we have to beat the Jags and get some help to push the Ravens out. I don't see the Steelers faltering so we are up against 4 other teams for the final wildcard spot. We definitely have our work cut out for us.

Thats why I hate the way the playoffs are set up. There is going to be several good teams that are playoff worthy sitting at home.
IMO it should be the AFC(no divisions) and the top 8 should be in the playoffs bracket style like the NBA. 1 v. 8 2 v.7 so on and so forth.

I wouldnt get too worried just yet. I can see either Denver or San Diego finishing 10-6, I think the Ravens will struggle to go 10-6, and I dont think Miami or NY Jets will finish strong enough to get a wildcard. We hold our destiny against the Jags in our hands when we play them again. Basically we need to beat out the Chargers/Broncos imo. Steelers are going to get that first wildcard.

I agree that the Steelers have the 1st spot almost locked. I was browsing the remaining schedules. This is what I see for the wild card teams in thier last 7 games.
SD 5-2 winng their division with an 11-5 record. The toughest teams on thier schedule are Dallas, Cincy and Denver but I believe they will beat the Donkeys.
Bal 5-2 finishing 10-6. They play Indy, Pitt twice and GB. There is a chance they lose to GB and may also win one with Pitt.
Jax 4-3 finishing 9-7. They lose to Us, Indy and NE.
Denver 3-4 finishing 9-7. They lost to the Skins and will falter, getting beat by SD, the Giants, Colts and Philly.
So realistically we need to go 11-5 to ensure a playoff birth. 10-6 might get us there but it would be a little more iffy.

the Ravens arent as good as alot of people though them to be imo. Their defense is struggling and I can see them losing some tough games. San Diego is the one that worries me as they have a fairly easy schedule after the Denver game.

Yea I originally had the Ravens going 4-3 in their last 7 but I'm not sure the Packers can beat them and they should play the Steelers tough regardless. SD only worries me if they don't take thier division. I have a feeling they will though so we need Denver to collapse.

Where's the game against the Packers at? They friggin handled Dallas yesterday in GB. Dec 7 Monday night at Lambeau. After watching the game last night I was not impressed with the Ravens offense. They barely managed to put any points on the board. I have a feeling they will cave against better teams. So if Denver and the Ravens collapse SD will take the division and all we have to do is keep winning and handle Jax. No problem. I actually feel good about our chances.

We finish strong and I can see us easily keeping Miami behind us and leap frogging Bal, Jax and SD.
No problemo! Just keep winning!

A miami without Ronnie Brown will be much less of a threat. Honestly our biggest threat right now is Pittsburgh and San Diego/Denver.

Denver is a snowball headed for hell though. SD is pretty inconsistent too. whichever one wins the div. The other one will be assed out.
Agree about Miami. Wildcat is playing out.

Nice update Goat.
I really like our chances. The season rests on our own shoulders. We win and we are in. The Texans just need to quit screwing around and do it.
I think SD will have their division wrapped up and I don't think Denver will handle thier remaining schedule very well.
The two teams that worry me the most are Jax and Baltimore. I don't think either one of those teams will go down easy. We have to pull for the Colts and Steelers to whoop the Ravens. Then we take care of Jax and hop in the driver's seat.

Baltimore still has to play the Steelers twice. I really think they are going to screw themselves.

No help from Carolina last night. I thought they would be up to the task but I guess not. Still I think we can handle the Fins.

Ya carolina played really poorly. I mean all they had to do was focus on Ricky Williams and yet he ate them alive.

Things are getting crazy now. With the Steelers, Broncos and Bengals all losing we have three division leaders at 7-3 and a bunch of teams in the wildcard hunt at 6-4, 5-4, and 5-5.
Because Indy is undefeated we have almost zero chance of winning our division. That means we will probably have to rely on tie breakers to get in. The good news is that we are now competing for one of two spots instead of just one.
