Man i'm on the fence when it comes to Metallica. THey don't suck now they are just a different band. I grew up on the headsplitting riffs and kill your mother beats, and it helped define who I was as a music fan, but that was Metallica of old, this new band is well...soft. They kind of lost me after the black album. There were a few moments even during that album where I was like WTF? Where's the new Harvester of Sorrow, the new Master of Puppets? But I settled in and thought the album was done well. But when load came out, it broke my heart, and they have continued to do so ever since. If they were a band I never heard of before I would say these guys are pretty cool, but knowing it's metallica, it just isn't the same. NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel that if you want your albums to sell you have to change with the times. When I was younger I liked their style and as I got older so did they and my style kind of matured as did theirs. The only beef I had with them was the ST Anger album with those annoying ass drums. So far what I've heard on this I like. They took it back to the old school as far as this song is 8 min. long b/c of the bad ass whaling they do on the guitars. Think about all musicians who have been around for as long as these guys have changed a little something in their music. As far as the heavy heavy shit...My eardrums just cant handle it anymore and IMO is a little played out. Especially the yelling and screaming in the mic. That shit is annoying. Hetfield can sing and he shows it. I dig what I hear so far on this album. I need to get off my butt and go get it.

As far as the pic...although the lyrics are hilarious everybody has a wife. Take Armani off the side of that bag and put Target on it and you'll prolly see me. It's reality. Sacrifices you make to do shit you want to do. Especially during football season.

Yeah it's just a matter of preference, and as bands get older so do some of their fans and they tend to change their musical taste. Me personally I stay true to my roots. Don't get me wrong I listen to alot of new stuff that comes out, and I change with the times that way, but I don't like it when I can't recognize the bands I love. It kinda sux when the passion they used to play with fades and they just pump out mainstream albums, but that's what gets the casual music listener and probably increases sales, so why stay true to your style only to appease the same old fans?

Well Pearl Jam is my all time favorite band and they've had the same type of drastic changes over the years. I'd love nothing more than to have them put out another classic album like Ten but that was a one of a kind. After that they went all kinds of different directions with their music and none of it has been as hard and personal as that album, but I love them still the same.....even if you can hardly ever understand a damn thing Eddie Vedder is saying half the time.

It's like me. I spent the weekend out of town with one of my friends who is several years younger than me. He has a system in his truck. I would have loved it about 6 years ago, but now I've been sitting around with a damn earache the last few days. Some of us just mellow a little with age, but to me Metallica is still jammin' and I'm one of the same old fans.
