Hello everyone.
Thanks to the Goat for the invite.
I've been lurking around for a few days, and I can see that some of you I know, some of you I haven't seen in a long long time. I was kinda wondering what happened to you guys, since you were such avid posters on the official site.
After reading some of your experiences with the posters and mods on the other boards, I know you're not exagerrating about the lunacy and hypocrisy that goes on over there. I have also had the same experience as some of you, where someone comes in flaming the team or the fans, and when you defend them, you're banned and your posts are removed. It seems as if they encourage trolls and back them up over the actual fans of the team. That's just wrong.
I will continue to post there, if only because there is more traffic, and I enjoy debating on some things, it's just the mods I have a prob with over there right now, not the moron posters, I can handle them if the mods would just back off.
I know this site is relatively new from the posts (last season), and I'm sure it will get busier as more people find out about it.
You really don't want just homers here though, you want trolls and pessimists too. The difference I can see here is you're allowed to defend yourself and the team/fans without fear of retribution from Vinny and his magical keyboard and Gerbil.
What you really want is a good mix of posters so you can hear other viewpoints as well, nobody is right 100% of the time.
About me: I'm more of a Homer than a pessimist, but I will admit when the team sucks, I'm not blind.
I'm more of a "let's get it done" person than a "we screwed up let's dwell on that" person.
I'd rather build on the positive and work on righting the wrongs and negatives rather than just complain about it. I can tell by your posts that alot of you are in the same boat as me.
We won't agree on everything, that is sure, but you can rest assured you will get my honest answer and feelings on things, and I try to back my statements/arguments up with reasoning and facts. I don't just throw random statements out with no reasoning or facts behind them, then duck out and don't answer when someone takes issue with it.
If anything, I overanalyze everything and make posts which are entirely too long, just like this one.
I was just supposed to say hello and it's turned into "war and peace".
Go Texans.

Welcome to the boards man and its great to have you!!! And yes we feel your pain about the dot com. I agree 100% with your post, we don't want just homers here, and we welcome trolls and homers alike, but the difference here is if someone is just plain stupid we have the freedom of ripping into them here without fear of being banned.
All of us here are die hard fans and we are a close community, for the most part we share that one thing in common that we love our team and support them irregardles, and as long as posters conversations aren't blatant the sky is falling type posts you will get excellent discussion over here.
Besides last year I my avatar was a bag over the head of the texans logo because I had high hopes last season and we were mediocre. This season those hopes are higher and I am 2 mouse clicks away from changing my avatar back...LOL Still love the team but man I am nervous this year.

Welcome to the Gridiron! Judging by this I'd say you'll fit in perfectly here. Pessimism and doubt are welcome here because all of our members back their opinions up with substance, not just hot air. We don't always agree with each other but we offer reasons why, and back that with logic and facts. You won't find all of the footstomping haters here but we also keep our homerism in check too because we all realize our team hasn't proven anything yet. Hope you stick around man, this is where its at.

About me: I'm more of a Homer than a pessimist, but I will admit when the team sucks, I'm not blind. I would call you a realist. You have a good understanding of what is acceptable football and you appear to be able to point the fingers in the proper directions when players and coaches make mistakes. Realists tend to be refered to as "Cheerleaders Fans" over on HT.com because we do not bitch and moan about everything the team need to improve on. I for one enjoy cheering and supporting a team much more than I would if all I did was complain about how everything is wrong with my team. I have respect for fans like Wildroot because he is an old guy that has been a long time Oiler fan, he wants to see his team WIN before he gets too old and so he is a bit antsy and gets worked up sometimes. Recently he and Coogbull have mellowed A LOT and they actually became pleasant posters even though they have a "glass is half empty" mindset.

Post count is 987 on .com now.
And again, more problems with the mods over there.
Some guy misquoted me and when I called him out on it the mods deleted the thread.

Not shocking at all. The main problem over there is the biggest hypocrites are the mods. Attitude reflects leadership and until they figure that out the board will continue to go downhill.
Welcome.
Damn it feels good to have my computer back!

they dont even tell you what you are banned for?? I am seriously thinking ab is on to something when he says Vinny is purposely banning any supporter of the team. I think he actually wants the drama and doom and gloom.

After reading about 15% of the posts on HT.com this morning, I am totally disgusted with that site. I just can't read all of that negative shit, and I don't feel like arguing with the idiots. Besides, they banned me, and I could very easily just make a new account and sign back in and be a part of their board again, but they don't deserve me. I'm too good for them. It a shame that the official site is apparently ran by assholes.
90% of the people there only post to bash the team, and they ban the real fans. It's too bad that the good posters from over there don't come here or post here enough. I posted there quite a bit because it has more activity. It's slow here. I realize it's building but we seriously need to recruit some people from over there, or from somewhere. I tried but none of them joined.

lol.. let me show you what post I was banned over. This is ridiculous!
Unrealistic, if everyone felt the same way you do. Apparently, they don't, judging by the votes so far.
That's the good thing about America. We all have the right to have our own thoughts and make our own decisions.
You can continue to spout nothing but negativity, and if that makes you feel better, more power to you. It's your right to do so as a poster. I prefer to focus on the positive and build on what we have.
Negative people are negative about anything and could find a flaw in anything. Positive people are the opposite.
I think the Texans are very capable of winning this week. They just need to leave it all on the field, and try to avoid mistakes.
If the Texans play like they should, we should be riding a 5 game win streak into the game with Indy. And we can beat them too. We just need to play like we are capable of.
But tell me the truth... even if they won the next 12 games, then swept thru the postseason and won the SB, would you still be finding negative things to dwell on or would you ever be positive about anything?
Now before you go running to the admins again, crying that I'm hurting your feelings, think about the implications of your post. You're implying that people that think they won't lose this week are being "unrealistic". As if they aren't as smart as you are and can't think for themselves.
You simply can't come into a fan site, and attack the team and fans without expecting backlash. I'm certainly going to defend myself, the team and our fans. They can ban me if they want, there's way more to life than a message board. I'll get over it pretty quickly.
