www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6363544.htmlNow Daniels is even talking contracts. He decided not to hold out like Dunta and Meco but he considered it, and he wouldn't be happy if he doesn't get a long term deal. man I understand it's business and sometimes a team will play hard ball but this is getting a little worrisome. I don't know if the team is having a cash flow problem or what, I guess it's possible considering the lack of actual fans in the seats all season last year, and I don't mean just late coming in....they just didn't come. I mean, I can understand not paying D Rob and Meco right now but Daniels?? There's no way we can risk losing him because great receiving TEs are not easy to find. I hope we work out a deal with him sooner rather than later because if he has a Pro Bowl year he'll demand a LOT more money. ugh

of course I guess the same can be said for D-Rob and Meco now that I think of it.

i say we go for brandon pettigrew =] him + owen would be awesome...both good blockers...who can catch...pettigrew isnt like antonio gates fast...but he does catch the ball when thrown his way...could be a great endzone threat

OD will make like 2 or 3 million and a top TE will only make 4 or 5 mil(Excluding Winslow,Dallas Clark)so he only wants a pay raise. He will get that too. Long story short I believe Demeco will get done before TC then Dunta maybe even during the season. We have the cap space, and I figure Demeco fired his agent out of good faith to the team and are willing to bet he's the first to get a deal done.

there is also no defensive player...worth taking in the first round....i feel if BPA is offensive we will take them... they even say on houstontexans.com that michael crabtree could fall to #15...now would u want us to pass on him

yeah i know pettigrew is a stretch =p i just think he is great...and will be great...id like beanie wells if he is there...just cause he can be a huge help...kinda like panthers...deangelo williams the fast guy/steve slaton and Johnathon stewart/beanie wells...would be a great combo...and i dont like ayers...id hope we trade down...if that happens...then agan trade down would always be the best scenario since we dont have a huge need to fill right away..to where more picks can evenly help us

It's very frustrating for me to hear about these three guys. Like Hydro said I understand business, but when you have playmakers on your team like OD, DR, and Meco you get that shit done. You guys might hate me for this but all signs point to rick smith. I used to rave about this guy, but his free agency acquisitions down right suck. He seems to have a sense for young talent in the draft, and getting a bargain, but what good does that do if by the time they hit their prime and require negotiations he can't get it done. It almost seems like he wants to strong arm the players, or more of it's a my way or the highway type deal. But man this the NFL, sure they are acting like primadonnas, but shit thats what the hell they are.
PAY UP RICK SMITH!!!!

Well I admire OD for not holding out. He should get an extra sweet deal just for showing up to camp. Anyway, I don't see a problem with him getting a good contract.
As for the other two...whatever. I'm on the fence when it comes to player contracts. I like keeping our players happy but I also like more money to spend on other players so we can actually have a good team. I'm sure the Texans will pony up the doe so I'm not worried.

personally I dont blame the team for holding out and trying to get the best value out of these guys. These players are ridiculously overpaid already and with alot of us regular folk hurting with the economy, I dont like hearing them cry when 20 or 30 million dollars isnt good enough for them.

Yea its hard to feel sorry for someone who snubs his nose at a one year deal that I could live off of for two lifetimes...go figure.
